We can amplify our voices to demand change to ensure that no more lives are needlessly lost to laced drug overdoses.
Trace the Lace - Ottawa.
Seeking Justice, Preventing Tragic Losses.
On April 1, 2022, and October 30, 2022, our lives were shattered as we lost our children to laced drugs. In the face of unimaginable grief, we are two resilient mothers channelling our pain into a relentless pursuit of justice for our children. We refuse to let their deaths be in vain.
At Trace the Lace, we stand united in our mission to demand accountability from law enforcement in investigating these tragic overdose deaths. Through advocating for reforms and pushing for transparency, we aim to prevent further heartbreaking losses in our communities. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that no other parent has to endure the same devastating agony.
-
Seeking justice and accountability.
Advocating for a centralized Federal level intake team where all laced drug overdoses are automatically investigated and traced to the source. To ensure clear, uniformed investigations and not rely on separate police forces who have different approaches to drug overdoses.
-
Preventing future losses.
Understanding existing laws and creating changes to assist in charges and convictions and changing the label of ‘Accidental Overdose’ to ‘Suspicious Overdose’. Our children were given poison and did not want to die.
-
Education and awareness.
Decreasing stigma on drug use and victims of overdoses and placing the blame on the true criminals. We see more recreational use in our youth, influenced by music and film. Recognizing that each drug overdose victim is a loved family member/friend and not just another number/case. Providing a forum for family/friends to share their stories.

More Government funded treatment facilities.
Advocate for immediate admissions to government-funded treatment facilities for those struggling with addiction. Accessible and prompt treatment options will save lives and prevent further tragedies caused by laced drugs.
